Australia Day 2011, Home Time.

Shot this picture on the Leica Digi Lux 4 on the 16:9 format to capture Mackenzie's Bay. The rocks were jammed packed with bronzed Aussies and their four legged friends making the most of their day off.

Only found in the State of Califonia this burger joint is a beauty. Similar to other fast food establishments minus the cardboard flavours. Order your burger, "Animal Styles" for an off the menu deluxe version. You can even order an "Atkins Style" burger which replaces the buns with lettuce leaves. My favourite.

A weird luminous mist covered Bondi Beach on Australia Day this year. It didn't clear early in the morning like it usually would. It just hovered. I shot these pictures at about 11:30am. I actually thought I'd missed my opportunity as I drove out of Bondi to go to breakfast at 8:30am, and thought it would have disappeared by the time I got back.
Luckily for me, I found these people on my return.

Love this slogan.

This was my surprise shot of the day. I was lining up the row of Japanese school girls waiting for a few of the stragglers to fall in line when the girl in the foreground exploded into my frame with a splash and a thud! She was a little battler, no tears, just got up and brushed herself off. I had a little giggle.
After I shot the portraits of the "Blanket" family, the dad ushered me over to a Bouganvillea bush to the side of the shed housing all the finished wares. He then started saying, "Modelo!, Modelo!", louder and louder each time to really get the message across. To go with the words he had some priceless moves. One hand behind his neck, chin up and the other hand proudly on his hip! Then he would swap hands and turn his head as he repeated, "Modelo!". I raised my camera to take a shot of him in front of the bush as I thought that's what he wanted but he scoffed and waved his hand in front of the lens. He grabbed me by the hand and pulled me over to the side of the rug weaving apparatus and pointed. Then it all became clear......

When he saw the penny drop in my mind, he crossed his arms and a wide smile covered his face.

We stumbled across this house while doing a recce for the shoot. The front of the house was amazing and was definitley all we could have hoped for out back. We accosted the owners as they walked out onto their driveway with coffees in hand! On the other side of the hedge you can see was the Canyon County Golf Club, amazingly maintained considering it was lush green in the middle of the desert!
Snapped this couple while they were watching the skim boarders riding the waves as they hit the shore.

Check out the details here.
On the drive to Todos Santos from Los Cabos we came across this little blanket stall on the side of the road. We were headed to "Art and Beer" a little gallery/bar shack run by a hippy couple. The blanket family lived next door in a caravan with a shed that housed the rug weaving aparatus and all raw materials.
They were an amazing family, so happy and hard working. The kids manned the stalls, their parents emerged form the work shed after a while to see what the gringos had bought. Once I spotted the 'rug maker', the lady gave me a demo of the wooden machine that was a mass of strings and pulleys.
We stayed there for ages swapping broken english stories, with a few hand gestures thrown in to really get the translation across. The dad was a classic.
I did buy a blanket, it's on my couch.

I took a walk out the back of our hotel on one of the last days I was in Mexico and came across the staff carpark. I actually went to shoot the abandoned soccer pitch near by but found this car and Bouganvillea instead.

Here's another shot from the Beauty series that appeared in Oyster. Hair by Matthew Webb. Make Up by Budi. Millicent is with Viviens here in Sydney.

I shot these pics on the 90 minute drive from Los Cabos to Todos Santos. We past one about every 5 minutes. They stood out in contrast to their tan dust covered surrounds. The little memorials were obviously all visited and tended too regularly as their presentation was immaculate.
Shot this picture on the 24mm L series on the 1DS MIII. Super low light, I think it was around 1600 ISO. It was inbetween presentations about SKII's involvement in sponsoring a water purification project for isolated villages around the world.

Best Moustache in town, hands down! Tano owns a jewellery store in Los Cabos. I spotted him on the street out front of his business enjoying the winter sun. After I shot his portrait he swiftly ushered me into his store to check out his wares....

Shot these pics on the Iphone4 with the "ToyCamera" App.

This is one of my favorite pitstops in Melbourne. I love having a rummage through all the salvaged goodies.
Spent an amazing day shooting Jennifer last week. Even after a 4:30am start for hair and makeup she was a trooper till the last frame of the day. Basically a pleasure to have on the team. As usual, this was taken at the end of the day to make the most of the fading light.
